Inspection:Check the delivered tiles before installation and report any defects as soon as possible. Claims regarding visible defects on tiles that have already been installed cannot be accepted.
Cleanliness:Work cleanly and in a well-ventilated area.
Sorting:Work with tiles from different cartons to ensure a good distribution of color tones.
Dust Removal:Remove the dust on the back of the Zelliges with a damp sponge.
Even Substrate:The substrate must be even, clean, grease-free, square, and dry. Use
Kiesel Octamus UG30 as a primer to ensure better adhesion of the tiles.
Tip: Lay out 20 to 30 tiles on a flat board or table with the desired color distribution. Remove any tiles that deviate significantly in size or thickness from the average and use them as cut tiles. This way, you ensure that the final result meets your expectations.
Double Application of Adhesive:Apply adhesive both to the back of the tiles and to the wall or floor – using a notched trowel of 6 or 8 mm. We recommend the use of
Kiesel Servolight S1 Super Tec. The adhesive consumption is approximately 1 to 1.5 kg per square meter.
Installation:Place the tiles as close together as possible. Work in manageable sections, e.g., 5x5 tiles.
Cutting:Cut the Zelliges with a water-cooled tile saw or an angle grinder equipped with a diamond blade.
Defective Tiles:Although our Zelliges are of the highest quality, occasionally some tiles may be uneven, show lime stains, or deviate significantly in size or thickness. Use these "inferior" tiles as cut tiles.
Drying:Once the tile adhesive has dried (usually after one day), the tiles can be grouted. We recommend grout in
medium gray or
silver gray from Kiesel.
Grouting:Fill the grout lines and any uneven areas with grout. Once the grout begins to dry, remove the excess material with a dry cloth. If any adhesive, grout, or cement residues remain, they can be removed with Lithofin Cement Stain Remover.
Maintenance:Simple cleaning with a natural cleaning agent. We recommend
Lithofin Wash & Clean for daily maintenance, but a natural green soap is also sufficient.
Wet Areas:Zelliges can be used in wet areas such as bathrooms, showers, and saunas. In doing so, the recommendations of the tile adhesive manufacturer must be followed. There must be no lime stains or cracks in the tiles. Make sure that the outer edges of the tiles are sealed with a flexible, waterproof epoxy-silicone to prevent water from getting behind the tiles.
Floor Quality:Zelliges can also be installed on floors, provided they are not subjected to excessive wear and are laid on an appropriate substrate.
Ordering Sample Tiles:To get an accurate picture of your wall or floor, we recommend that you order some sample tiles. You can do this in our webshop. If you subsequently place a larger order, we will credit the purchase price of the sample tiles.
Warranty:The warranty on all our tiles is one year from the date of delivery and applies exclusively to manufacturing defects – provided you have cleaned the floor with the care products we recommend. Claims for tiles that have already been installed will not be accepted.
