History

De Tegel BV has been in business since the nineteen eighties, however in 1991 we became a stand alone company through a management buy-out, therefore we use this year as our establishment annum.

We decided to focus the activities of our company on the niche of handmade and exclusive tiles and building materials, since there was room for it on the market.  At the outset it all began with a simple line of cement tiles. Through focus and staying true to our vision, the company bloomed over the years to become a solid,  renown and go to destination, when talking about exclusive handmade tiles in Europe and around the world.

green and ecological

All collections that we produce have to be green and ecological,  sustainable, with a minimal carbon footprint in respect with nature. All the workers in our factories earn a decent salary, and work in clean and safe conditions. It also goes without saying that no child labour is used in our workshops.

Collections

Although we continue exploring the world to expand our portfolio, we do not loose sight of the initial aim of our company. Our motto is 'Passion for handmade beauty'.
We currently feature the following collections;

  • Cement tiles in many shapes and sizes. A standard colour collection of 72 shades. Extended opportunities to create your own personalized tiles for walls and floors.
  • The finest quality  Zelliges. With their typical subtle colour variations, Zelliges will create charm in every space, inside or out.
  • Zellige Mosaic Panels; crafted by skilled Zellige Masters originally to ornate the Alhambra palace in Grenada, Spain, nowadays used in classy boutique hotels and bars, and homes of the rich and famous as well as upscale public places.
  • Terracotta as Terracotta ought to be; rustic, robust, everlasting, classic yet modern.
  • Terracotta Breezoblocks can be used for inside and outside, it keeps your spaces open but still provides you with enough privacy.
  • Terrazzo with slabs as large as 120 x 300 x 2,0 cm, other sizes cut to order. Perfect for worktops, table tops, stairs and window frames, or simply on the floor…
  • Lavastone; created by Mother Nature. Sustainable, solid, unique and beautiful, cut to order and glazed in every RAL colour you can imagine.
  • To complete our ranges,  various glazed ceramic tiles.

Opposed to other companies in the handmade tile industry, we hold extensive stocks of the ranges described above. The advantages are obvious, we can ship orders large or small within 3 to 5 working days practically everywhere in Europe and beyond.
One of the main fortés of our company is that we can make about every floor or wall you can imagine. We do this for projects of any size, for property developers or architects and private customers.
